Epigramme

The epigrams for solo viola/cello were composed in 2017 on a commission from the physician Georg Domsel, who lives in Frankfurt am Main.

They consist of five movements, all stemming from the same initial idea and gradually developing in different dir­ec­tion­s.

The slow, free introduction and the final movement appear to be identical, yet they differ in small but noticeable details, such as ornaments or double stops. The three faster movements in between primarily explore rhythm and broken chord­s.
